Athena's Transition Fund!
Donation protected
Hey Friends <3
I started my transition in 2020 -- and this past year taught me so much about how incredibly difficult it is to transition as a poor person without insurance during an unprecedented pandemic. And even with the impossible task of surviving, it still has taken me a year to work up the nerve to ask for help. While my painting business is just beginning to find its footing, transitioning has felt more and more financially and socially impossible. Which leads me here.
I'm trying to raise $10,000. Which is.... astronomical truly. But this goal is founded in the costs associated with transitioning. This includes my medical transition (my prescriptions for hormones, my therapy appointments, regular doctors' visits and lab work, laser hair removal for my face and chest, as well as the less talked about parts of transition like being able to afford gender affirming clothing).
$10,000 is a huge amount of money. But if we break that down, it's made possible by 100 generous friends donating $100. I KNOW (fr fr I know) that $100 is not a small amount of money. I can only stress here that each donation any one is able to make goes a long way in making a safe transition possible for a trans woman of color. This would allow me to focus my efforts on getting my painting business fully off the ground AND be able to afford my transition during this year of change. I am so so so grateful to each and every one of you for reading this and to each of you who feels called and able to help.
****if it sweetens the deal, my birthday is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate my life than to help me survive another year, no cap!!!*****
And if you're like, "ehhhh I need a lil sumthin too" I will send everyone that donates $100 a limited edition greeting card from Parthenon Pours (my very small business <3).
I love you all and once again cannot thank each of you enough for your help getting through another year. And if you can't donate at this time, a share goes such a long way.
All my love,
