Please help me fund my efforts to bring this amazing collective story of hope and support to many more people as I try to travel the country and reach every state. And give people the opportunity to share their personal story on the boards. This is very healing for so many people. Inspiration keeps us going.
I was diagnosed with severe PTSD from a sexual assault that almost took my life.
I have been meeting total strangers as my therapy to overcome PTSD. I have done this every day for 8 hours for 863 days in a row now. I have put in almost 6,500 hours of work doing this without pay. This is important.
I have personally met 24,682 total strangers across the country during that time that have shared their own stories of traumas and triumphs on 370 giant foam poster boards. The messages are in 86 languages and are written with 26 Sharpie marker colors.
The 3,100 square feet of messages include artwork, poetry, bible verses, short stories, jokes, etc.
I gave a TEDx talk called Strangers, Hope, and Sharpie Markers Saved My Life (on YouTube). It tells my complete story and how this therapy project started.
That TEDx talk addresses the significance of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on a suicidal night.
I have Facebook and Instagram accounts called Blake Late Show to learn even more about this journey.
Please help me fund my efforts as I work to continue traveling across the country so I can share this collective story of hope and support with more people. And also give people the chance to share their message and bring hope to them too.
The hope is to one day become a guest on The Late Show and share this collective story of hope and support with Stephen Colbert and millions of others.
We need tangible, uplifting and inspirational projects like this to help us all move beyond PTSD (mental illnesses),sexual assault and trauma. Thanks.
