Hello friends! I am doing a fundraiser for my beautiful Pitbull, Athena. Unfortunately, after I took her to the dog beach for some fun, she could not walk the next day. Her ACL ligament tore. She has been dealing with the torn ACL on her left hind knee for the past year and she needs TPLO (tibial plateau levelling osteotomy) surgery to help her walk again in a way that is not painful or harmful for her. Unfortunately, her legs have gotten worse in the last few months and now her other leg has a tear due to her compensating her weight on her right leg. Upon consultation from a Veterinary surgeon, they advised that she will need to have both of her knees done. This type of surgery is not cheap, but the success rate is high and after recovery, Athena should be back to running and being her true goofy self.

For those of you who know me, Athena is a huge part of my life. The moment I met her, my heart melted and and I knew she was going to have an impact on my life for the better. She took care of me when I was having mental health challenges last year and now I want to help her. Having a dog is definitely an investment, but the amount of love and joy that Athena has given me is irreplaceable and priceless. Athena is such a bundle of love and those who have met her in person are instantly covered in doggie kisses and swatted with her powerful tail because she is so happy to see them. She is such a ham!

Recovery for her will be roughly twelve-twenty-four weeks. This will be the tricky part, due to miss Athena being her silly, Pitbull self. She loves to play and run around, but we will need to keep her confined and quiet for the next several months. The vet recommends doing one knee and then four weeks after the first to do the other knee. A few weeks into her recovery, she will start experimenting with putting pressure on her hind legs and walking around. Knowing Athena, she will be very happy to be slightly active again, especially since at the moment it is painful for her to walk.

All this to be said, the financial side of any veterinarian procedure is costly. For TPLO on one knee, the Cost is $2950 and for both legs the cost is $5900. I would like to schedule her surgery for as soon as possible. I do have Pet Insurance, but the likelyhood of insurance covering the surgery for one or both knees is not a guarantee being that her condition is usually considered pre-existing due to her breed . That does not mean my pet insurance won't cover some or any of it, but regardless, Miss Athena still needs the surgery.

If you feel lead, any donation, prayer and/or positive doggie vibes are so welcome. Thank you for your support and kindness. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to me ❤
