Pico's Feisty Fight Against CANCER!

Friends, Family and Strangers who Love Animals:
First, let's start with the good stuff- Pico de Gallo is 12 y/o male Boston Terrier who loves snoozing under the sheets with a snuggle buddy, makes joyful/weird noises, begging treats, and enthusiastically making friends with everyone and anyone who walks into his life. Pico has been in our family since he was a puppy, and is affectionately known as "our lil man."
Now for the bad stuff: During a routine dental cleaning the vet discovered a mass in Pico's mouth, and after biopsing it diagnosed Pico with cancer (mandibular plasmacytoma to be precise). The tumor, which is located in Pico's left lower jaw, is aggressive but rare to metastasize. The surgery, partial rostral mandibulectomy, will require a small portion of Pico's jaw to be removed. This sounds scary but it is actually an excellent treatment option for tumors of the this type. It is an outpatient procedure and has a typical recovery time of 2 to 3 weeks- which means in less than a month Pico can get back to stealing toys from dogs and hearts from people. Major surgery for elderly pets often means a lot of pain and money with an uncertain outcome, but in this case, age ain't nothing but a number. This has not been an easy decision for me and at $2,800.00 (please see attached estimate) this surgery is not cheap, but our lil man is still an active pup who has at least a few more years in him, and I want to give him a chance to live to the fullest. We have the opportunity to literally cut the cancer out of Pico and give him not just more time, but more time in which he will have a good quality of life.
Please join me in making this surgery possible for Pico. I encourage you to look at his pictures, watch his amazing videos and read the surgery referral report. You will see he is worth it! Any donation, whether it be large or small is truly appreciated. A big thank you for considering to help Pico de Gallo.
