Help Scooter & Scott stay together

I met Scooter and his owner, disabled US Army veteran Scott Lorenzen about four years ago. Scooter was given to Scott at no cost because he had a life threatening conditions called megaesophagus. Scott hand fed him for months and literally saved his life.
Now, it's Scott that needs help. He has lost his home, and is currently at the VA hospital while he searches for a new place to live, and a means to pay move-in costs. While some assistance is available to him, it will not cover the additional cost of a pet deposit.
In the meantime, Scooter has to stay in boarding. He is devasted without Scott, who he has spent every day with since eight weeks old. Scott visits him daily and Scooter barks in distress when he leaves, and looks for him every time he is walked. They are family, and it's incredibly difficult for them to be apart.
Please, if you can find it in your heart to give a little for a veteran and POW to be reunited with his beloved dog as soon as possible, it would be so appreciated. Scott needs a deposit for himself and a pet deposit, and Scooter would benefit from a full wellness and joint check, and a few bags of food to stock up.
Also, if you're in the Lake County IL area, and interested in helping walk Scooter on occasion, or a have a large, safe, fenced-in area where Scott may allow him to run when he can bring him home, near the Zion IL area, please contact me.
