Colleen's Studying & Service Trip

Donation protected
Colleen Curran is a junior at Siena College majoring in Health Studies with the hopes of becoming a Geriatric Occupational Therapist.

She is studying abroad at the University of Glasgow in Scotland next fall and is looking to raise money in order to serve and learn while being abroad.

Colleen will be studying Functional Anatomy which will provide her with  hands-on experience of key anatomical skills by cadaveric dissection, prosection and interpretation of radiographs. The University of Glasgow also offers exposure to a famous collection of anatomical specimens dates back to the 18th Century with its Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery.

In addition to her studies, Colleen hopes to  continue to do service by caring for terminally ill people in a hospice and by giving personal and nursing care to the frail and elderly in Scotland as part of a Social and Public Policy course. If she were to obtain a Tier-4 Visa and given the opportunity to take the service learning course, it would be for 8 weeks, 6 hours per week, at a Glasgow-based welfare agency.

Colleen is leaving for Scotland September 3rd (which is also her 20th birthday) and will remain there until late December. This will be her first time ever out of the country and she is very excited to learn more about the study of anatomy and physiology and social and public policy while immersing herself into a new culture!

She appreciates her friends' and families' time and concern and would be so grateful for any donations. Her goal is to raise $550 so that she can obtain a Tier-4 Visa so that she can serve abroad and expand her horizons while serving the elderly in Scotland.
