Help Lisa stay in her home
Donation protected
Those of you who know my friend Lisa know what a light this beautiful soul brings to the world. Lisa is an honest, humble, hardworking woman, wife, and mother who has fallen on hard times. She and her husband worked for many years building a family business, but lately the economy has not been good, and they are struggling to make overhead. Lisa is disabled due to spine injuries so she doesn’t have the option of working outside the home. Her husband commutes to the Bay Area just to keep the business afloat, leaving Lisa alone during the week to care for herself and her son, who is high on the autism spectrum. She is so positive, loving, and kind to all she knows and meets, and always tries to put on a brave face, but now Lisa needs our help. If we can just get her up to date on her mortgage, she could rest securely knowing she and her family won’t lose the only home they have. She would still have many obstacles to climb, but at least she could be relieved of the debilitating stress and fear of losing her home. I asked her to write a few words explaining the situation which you can read below. I hope you can find it in your heart to donate $10, $25, $100, $1000 dollars, no amount is too small. Let’s show Lisa what this community can do!Here’s Lisa, in her own words:
“We have been struggling for some time now, I have managed to stumble through so far. Back in February (2023), I was starting to get behind on my mortgage again. Our family dog got very sick in February and I had to get her to the vet. The bill was $600…that I was saving towards my mortgage. (Our poor dog ended up passing away in in April.) So, I filed for Mortgage Relief through the state. I had been in constant communication with my mortgage company, and I was getting phone calls from them daily. Under immense pressure from them to make some form of repayment plan, I signed a Payment deferral for the 2 months I was behind. Two days later the mortgage assistance I had applied for was approved and would have brought my mortgage current through the end of April, but my mortgage company wouldn't let me back out of the Payment deferral plan, so they returned the money and I was even further behind. I was able to make a payment in April, but that was all. I was told by California mortgage assistance that I could reapply if needed after they received the money back from my mortgage company. I did reapply in June of 2023, but was disqualified because of the Payment deferral plan I signed which made it look like I had been current earlier in the year! I found all this out the same day I was telling my mortgage company that I was positive I would be able to get it. I am devastated now. I don't know where to turn. I spent the first 4 months of the year trying to get qualified for Medi-Cal and SNAP benefits. Working with Social Services is not easy and very stressful. I have also been struggling with new medical conditions: Chronic pancreatitis and Colitis; and have been trying to get treatment for them.”
In addition to all this, Lisa’s mother passed away recently as well as her twelve year old cat. Life has really thrown a lot at her and she’s sustained so much loss. Let’s try to lighten her burden and give her the safety and security she and her family need to gather their strength and move forward. Please donate now!
