Syrian Refugee Family sponsorship

Hi, my name is Steve Milum and I live in Prince Rupert, BC. I recently purchased a house and property next door to my home and have decided to fix it up to provide free accomodation for a Syrian refugee family for the next 12 months or more. I am part of a community group (30 and growing) that will be sponsoring at least 3 Syrian refugee families in Prince Rupert.
100% of the funds raised here will go directly to supporting the family that will soon be my neighbour (a separate Go Fund Me account is being set up to fill gaps for the 3+ families the community will be sponsoring). Although I am able to provide accomodation for one family they will need money for utilities (heat, hydro, phone, internet), food, clothing, furniture, appliances (fridge/ stove, washer/ dryer provided), electronics, other household items, transportation, child care, recreation, health, education & language services, etc.
Since I am applying through a Blended Visa Office Referred Refugee (BVOR) program, Canada's Federal government will provide 6 months of minimum level financial support. Thus, the fund raising goal I have set will "top-up" the federal amount and provide the remaining 6 months of financial support required for the family to settle into Prince Rupert/ Canada, find employment, and become independent and self-sufficient within one year of their arrival.
The family is expected to arrive within 3 months (by the end of April 2016). This allows plenty of time to fund-raise, repair and prepare the house and property, and organize a welcoming event (you are all invited!) and social supports for the family's arrival and stay.
