Gone Too Soon: Juan Jose & Monica Covarrubias

After losing my father to COVID-19 two months ago, our family is once again left bereft in our grief, as we were forced to say goodbye to two more of our own beloved. 

My loving uncle, Juan Jose Covarrubias, passed on January 27th, and his beautiful daughter, Monica Covarrubias, my beloved cousin, also slipped silently away, surrounded by her young children and family members, on January 31st. Both were taken from us in a single week, both victims of COVID-19.

Juan Jose Covarrubias leaves behind five children and many more grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Monica Covarrubias leaves behind three beautiful children who are being cared for by the family.

Like countless others visited by tragedy as a result of the ongoing pandemic, I know all too well how grief and loss are compounded by the financial stress that accompanies this illness in its immediate aftermath. But losing two loved ones, mere days apart from one another, is more than any family can shoulder alone, which is why we are asking for your help.

Will you please help my Covarrubias family shoulder the immense weight of such an unimaginable loss?

All donations received will go towards immediate financial needs such as funeral costs and hospital bills for my uncle, Juan Jose, and my cousin, Monica, as well as moving costs and ongoing care for Monica’s children (all minors), who have been entrusted into the loving homes of family members who are already stretched thin by the ongoing pandemic and recession.
