Michel Stephane Bruno was an incredible man and there are many people all over the world morning his tragic passing. He was taken from this world all too soon, leaving behind his wife/best friend, two incredible children, family, and a large network of friends and colleagues from around the world. I believe most of us are still in a state of shock mixed with deepest despair and confusion on how someone so loved, so generous, so humble, and so uplifting could be gone. I do not wish to speculate as to the details until more information is shared, but the news reported he was hijacked in his car late last night and killed. The reasons are unknown at this time.
Our hearts go out to his family. Nothing I can say or do will heal this hurt, but please know you are loved. Everyone I have spoken with today from across the country have expressed a desire that they wish there was more they could do. For those of us in the US, I have started this gofundme page, as an expression of support for his family. I cannot imagine what they must be going through, and want to ensure they feel supported in every way possible. All money raised wil go directly to Stephane's beautiful wife Mica, so that she may not have a financial burden on her shoulders during this time of grief.
Stephane and I met during our time working for Boom and we quickly became close friends. Stephane and his family were like family to me when I lived in Haiti in 2013. They are the most loving and kind people. The love they have for one another was always present, and their generosity and kindness an example for us all. They represented to me what made Haiti great, it's people. Stephane especially was an optimist and dedicate to the advancement of technology in Haiti for the betterment of all. His loss is not only a loss to his friends and family, but to the country of Haiti. I will miss him terribly.
Please give whatever you are able, and most importantly please keep his family and friends in your thoughts. May they be surroounded by those who love and comfort them in this devastating time.
