Black Queer Survival Fund
Greetings! My name is AriEl (they/them/theirs). I decided to make this GFM in hopes that it will reach further than my Instagram crowdfund posts have and that it will welcome in more loving donations. I was recently denied Unemployment compensation and P*ndemic Unemployment Assistance. I have not been able to sustain a job that doesn’t compromise my overall health and integrity.
The donations I have received through cashapp ($feedari) & venmo (@feedari) have allowed me to take care of groceries and gas money, but I haven’t reached an amount that would allow me to move from this unsafe (family) home. Majority of my current mental and emotional suffering comes from living in a space that exhibits harm on the regular.
I would really love to move to another Southern state where there are more opportunities for me to advance my filmmaking skills and abilities, have more work opportunities, be in community with Black QT people, and begin to build a sustainable foundation for my livelihood. I would also like to purchase (or receive) a fully functional Nikon DSLR and a MacBook to help support my creative endeavors. Thanks in advance for your support!
Some fun facts about me:
- I am a filmmaker and archivist . Most of my work (as of now) is done purely out of passion, with the help of friends and community.
- I often listen to music by Nat King Cole, Alice Coltrane, Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, Lonnie Liston Smith, Meshell Ndegeocello, Solange, Key Glock, and the list goes on.
- I love eating falafel wraps, samosas, grilled salmon, caesar salads, and vegetable based dishes with rice!!!
- I enjoy studying astrology & dreamwork! I am also a Hoodoo devotee, meaning that I study and revere my ancestors’ heritage.
- When I have the privilege to participate I love hiking, biking, yoga, kayaking, roller skating, kickboxing, and rock climbing!!
