Lola’s Transition Fund
From one day to the next Lola, queer, black and walking away from a less privileged background, saw, like so many other people, the small rug they had pulled under their feet.
Her family are the friends she chose, not only by choice but because the mother succumbed a few years ago and, the father ... The father is complicated and doesn't even live in Portugal.
A little while ago, following a marathon in the brilliant Veneno series, Lola confessed to me and made her wish and desire to leave on this journey that will be her transition. Drag was and is a form of artistic expression. Something that served as a laboratory, so to speak, to flourish in this divine person that we see here.
You can only get to where you really want (and deserve) if you are at peace and comfortable in your skin, Lola deserves that peace and comfort. And it is not that there is someone who deserves more or less, but it is from her that I write here.
Lola refuses to ask anyone for money, she is hardworking, grateful, humble, graceful and always the most willing and full of energy. Made from the fiber of the people in my cup of tea.
I may not have had the happiness of seeing my biological brother grow, but now I'm going to the moon, naked and without a birkin if I get to that, to guarantee that Lola will become ... Ela Própria!
