Emmett's Dream Wheelchair
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Emmett Fuerst. I attend the University of Winnipeg and am working towards an English degree. My goal is to get a writing in the entertainment industry. My hobbies are reading, writing, travelling, hanging out with my friends, and I'm a WWE FANatic. I I have a rare neuromuscular disease called Nemaline Myopathy. There is only one other person in my province with the same condition. "Technology-dependent" is a fancy way of saying I need a lot of equipment to help me live my life. During the past twenty years, my parents have spent over $200,000 on equipment and therapies. Our provincial health care only pays for basic expenses. Our private insurance will only cover $1,000 on a wheelchair. My needs have changed a lot as I've gotten older. It's harder to do my physiotherapy now that I'm trached and vented 24/7.
This new wheelchair has a seat elevator that will allow me to reach things more independently, see over obstacles, and talk with people easier. It has power leg rests that will improve the circulation in my legs/feet and allow me to do stretches by myself. It also has tilt and recline features that will let me reposition myself and help avoid pressure sores. It is my dream chair. When my mom discovered that the Permobil 350 was going to cost more than we expected, our friends and family encouraged us to do this Go Fund Me Page. We put a $9,500 deposit on the chair, but need to raise
$17, 000 to cover the remaining cost and Go Fund Me fees.
Please feel free to share the link for this page. Thanks in advance for your support. Fingers crossed
