On May 12th 2016, Chevy Wengryniuk, aged 31 miraculously survived a forty foot fall while vacationing in Mexico with his partner Breanne Kichard. Unfortunately he broke three ribs, punctured both lungs and broke his back at T11 and T12 causing permenant injury to his spinal cord resulting in a complete paralysis from the waist down.
He had emergency surgery to stabilize his spine, and was in the ICU in Mexico until stable enough and had the resources to fly to Canada.
On May 18th Chevy was air medevaced to Vancouver General Hospital where he started his long road of recovery for two and a half weeks.
He is currently at G.F.Strong Rehabilitation Center in Vancouver B.C. with an expected three to four month period before he is able to return to Nelson B.C. He will be adjusting to a new home with Breanne that she will be preparing and modifiying over these months (with support of friends and family)for him to safely start his journey to a new way of living.
Since this accident there have been many upsetting challenges, in an effort to reduce some stress and allow him to focus on rehabilitation we are asking for financial support. Chevy and Breanne need help to cover living, medical and travel expenses and with his transition home.
