Rebuilding a Life for Drew & Ellen
Donation protected
On Sunday June 19th (Fathers Day) after having a great day with friends Drew looked out and saw a trash can between their home and the restaurant next door that was on fire. Within seconds, the side of the building, within only a few minutes, the entire building. With only seconds to decide, Drew and Ellen knocked on doors to warn their neighbors. Thankfully, every one of the humans got out alive.
Drew and Ellen left with their clothes on their backs and one set of car keys. No wallets, no phones, and not their beloved Chester and Whiskers. They have literally lost everything.
Years of album collecting, art supplies, books, camping gear, photos, nostalgic toys, antiques and everything we come to surround ourselves with are gone. Yet the only thing they have mentioned are the two furbabies they lost.
Drew and Ellen will have to begin to rebuild their life tomorrow starting with phone calls (with borrowed phones) and clothing with Red Cross Gift Cards.
The hours, days and weeks it will take to go through red tape, find a place to live, and begin again will take their toll physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It will take vacation days and sick days. Perhaps more than they have.
This campaign is to help take their minds off some of the day to day expenditures they will have in the weeks to come including not worrying about trying to work at this time.
If you know Drew and Ellen you know how kind and generous they are in spirit to all of those around them. It's our turn to embrace them and help them through this tragedy. Please donate generously and spread the word.
