Kansas City Dreamin'

My name is Diallo Javonne French.  I'm a music photographer and filmmaker based in Kansas City.  My current project is called Kansas City Dreamin' (Music In Shadows).  It's a music documentary about Kansas City's rich musical heritage.  The film centers around jazz legend Bobby Watson, and will spotlight the black & white music photographs I've been shooting for over ten years.  It also talks about Kansas City's heyday in the 1930's and the importance of KC to the evolution of jazz.  The majority of the footage for this film has already been shot.  

I have already begun the post production process.  I'm seeking funds for editing and recording the music score.  My hope is to have the film completed by September/October in time for film festival season.

This project is very close to my heart.  I'm a native of Kansas City.  My Grandparents met in the 18th & Vine Jazz District.  My hope is that this film will educate the world on Kansas City's contribution to American music.
