Tabatha's Sri Lanka Girl's Orphanage
Our dear friend Tabatha has traveled across the world to Sri Lanka, a small island off the coast of India, to volunteer at a children's orphanage "“ giving care and hope to displaced, abandoned and abused children.
Sri Lanka is a very poor country, that is still recovering from the devastating
tsunami of 2004, and years of civil war. Orphanage volunteer programs in
Sri Lanka are designed to provide a brighter future to these disadvantaged and
innocent children. Volunteers bring love and supply energy to these programs "“
teaching conversational English or simply being a special and caring friend.
The facility where Tabatha works is in rough shape, with only 2 matrons caring
over about 40 girls. There is no running water and the girls sleep on
dirt floors. With her big heart and strong will, Tabatha has become the
unofficial leader of her team and a lot of change is happening fast.
She's already taken charge in collecting enough money for medicine, and for
trucks to deliver water to the facility. She is currently raising money for
tooth brushes and mattresses... a goal of $600.
Tabatha could really use our help in achieving these goals. As you can
see, a little contribution can go a long way. Even from across the globe,
you can make a positive mark in the world by touching the lives of these
orphaned children.
We are currently working on setting up a blog area, where you can keep up with
Tabatha's work efforts, and see what your contributions are going toward.
Again,
any help or assistance will be greatly appreciated. It won't take much to
change the lives of these children, while giving them a small glimpse of a
future where despair is replaced by hope.
Thanks
very much!
