Sarah Made it to the Olympic Trials

Donation protected
Hey Im Ian, and Sarah is my wonderful wife. The last few years have been real crazy, We had our first kid and Sarah started running and training shortly after Ayden was born.  She had always wanted to qualify for the Olympic trials and get the chance to represent her country at the Olympic games. But she was not sure how fast she would be able to run after having a kid and the trials were only 2 short years away.

In the fall of 2014 Sarah ran a 75min half marathon which should have qualified her for the Olympic trials in the Marathon. However, due to some technicality she was denied the chance to compete at the trials. The race director invited her back to try again the next year and promised they would have everything fixed for 2015.

Fast forward 1 year and Sarah is at the same race. The gun goes off and she runs a great race and Hits the Qualifying time again, and before we can celebrate we find out that the race was still not sanctioned as promised and she was again denied the chance to race for a spot on the Olympic team.

This spring Sarah decided to try and qualify for the Olympic trials on the Track, in the 3,000m Steeple.

Her best time was 10:25 and The standard to qualify is 9:53.00. Her first race out she ran a huge PR with a time of 10:02.  9 seconds shy of the trials standard. She scrambled to find another race and 2 weeks later we found ourselves in Nashville Tennessee to try again. In Nashville Sarah ran a great race and another huge PR and a heartbreak just barely missing the standard with a time of 9:53.39.

She was not sure if there would be any other fast races to qualify in and started contacting other runners around the country to find out where she could try to get one last race.

Saturday night (June 18th) she found herself on the line in Princeton NJ for what was sure to be her last chance to qualify. She needed to run 79 per lap to hit the standard. Lap one 76, then 80,79,80,80,81 with 600 to go She was off pace by 3 seconds and she knew she needed to press if she wanted to go to Eugene. She pressed hard ran her last 400 in 74 ,She ran a gutsy  race, a PR, and a 9:50.5 . Qualifying herself for the Olympic Trials in Eugene OR.

I was so proud of her for accomplishing this and it means so much because she was denied two previous times because of some technicality and because it is an accomplishment that I have personally worked for and narrowly missed  or the last 3 olympic trials.

She has hit the standard but we are not there yet. Now that she is qualified we have to make last minute flight and hotel plans to fly Sarah, myself and Ayden out to Eugene.

We are looking for funds to help pay for flights, rental car, and a hotel for the week we will be at the trials competing for a spot on the olympic team. The trials start on July 1st and go through the 10th and we are trying to book tickets and accommodations this week.

It is an amazing opportunity and Sarah has worked so hard for this. Working full time, being a Mom, and training he tail off every day for the last 2 years.

It would mean the world to us if you would help get Sarah out there and it would mean the world to Sarah if Ayden and I could be there to cheer her on.

Thank you so much for your support and prayers over the next 2 weeks
