Andy's Year in Germany Fund
Donation protected
Hi! I'm Andrew Cordell (most people just call me 'Andy'), and this is a GoFundMe I created to help fund my exchange to Germany! I'm a Junior in High School, I live in Fort Worth, Texas, I love studying languanges (just German and Korean at the moment), and I love German culture!
I'm able to take an exchange year in High School because I am 1 of 250 finalists for the 2016-2017 CBYX (Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange) scholarship! This very prestigous scholarship allows 250 American students to study abroad in Germany for 10 months, so they can experience the vibrant culture, learn the beautiful language, meet wonderful people, and help strengthen ties between these two great nations. I was awarded the scholarship on March 15, 2016, after completing the long application, making it to the semi-finals, and having an interview to become a finalist. I'm extremely excited to start my exchange, which isn't far off at all, as I leave August 9.
The scholarship pays for almost everything needed during the trip, including airfare, several excursions to German cities, a month-long language camp, food, and housing. The only thing that isn't covered by the scholarship is the spending money that is needed for day-to-day life in Germany. My program asks that I have $300 for every month of the program, which is a lot of money in total (especially for my family of eight), so I started this GoFundMe to help fund that balance for every month. Every month, those $300 will be used to pay for trips to other cities and countries with my host family, cultural excursions, meals that I can't have with my host family, German cell service, and every single day-to-day item that I need. All those things really add up, and I think that at the end of every month, those $300 will have been greatly appreciated.
Every bit of the money you donate will be put into a bank account which I will be able to take $300 out of every month, while I'm in Germany.
Thank you so much for looking at this fund, especially if you donated! Everything helps, so even if you can't donate to this fund, please share this with your friends and family! Also, if you want to follow me throughout my year, please subscribe to my YouTube Channel, "A Year In Germany," where I'll be posting VLOGs, doing Q&A's, making language lessons, and more! I will also try to blog as often as possible throughout the year, and my blog is "Ein Jahr In Deutschland." So once again, thank you so much for all your help!
Tschüss!
