You probably know my parents, Phil McClelland and Karen Banos. They are lending me their FB pages and email addresses to ask for your help. I just finished my junior year of high school and am thinking about what I want to do when I go to college.
I searched for something meaningful to do this summer, and was accepted to an amazing summer program that I am hoping to attend called the "Penn Summer High School Social Justice Research Academy for Summer 2016". I am one of 20 people accepted into this program which runs for the month of July, which of course, is just around the corner.
We will study inequality and injustice, both past and present, and explore the historical relevance to the current world we are living in. It brings together students from around the country and I believe it will be a life-changing experience for me.
Unfortunately, this program is prohibitively expensive for my family so I won't be able to attend without help.
Any donation will help; no amount is too small!
There is so much turmoil in this world we live in (LGBT issues, ISIS, presidential elections, hate crimes, etc) and I believe it is MY generation that has to bring about the change we need. Help me start on that path! Any donation you can make will be appreciated more than you can imagine, and I promise you I will do my best to be part of the change we all want to see in the world!
