My name is Mary Borba and I started this Go Fund Me campaign for the Sanchez Family. Monica Vera Sanchez was diagnosed with MS in 2006, and since then has been on medication. As a result of the medication Tysaberi, she now has a brain tumor and was diagnosed with lymphoma. Monica is the 11th in the U.S. to develop cancer as a result of these meds. Monica has been hospitalized numerous times while doctors were trying to determine what was causing her symptoms. They finally narrowed it down to lymphoma. Monica had two long hospital stays at UCSF for treatment and recently completed chemotherapy. Due to all of this, Monica lost her job and the family has been suffering not only emotionally, but financially. Their insurance paid only 80% of their bills, and won't pay any of the ambulance costs (over $12,500) because it had not contracted with those companies.
Monica and Efren and their two sons are parishioners at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church and attend the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Mass. Their Efren, Jr. and Emilio are students at Medeiros School.
