Janet’s Journey...Support Janet Crawford

You know the famous saying “when it rains it pours”? Well, this statement has never been truer than it is now. There is a woman who is an amazing Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Friend, and Veteran who has experienced more than her fair share of hardships this year. This woman just happens to be our mom. Her medical journey was kicked off at the beginning of the year when she went for what was thought to be a typical sick visit to her primary care doctor. What was supposed to be a routine sick visit turned into a surgery that required her to have her gallbladder removed. This resulted in a painful recovery and lost time at work. Remember the “when it rains it pours saying”? Two days prior to her anticipated return to work she slipped on some ice on her back porch, which led to a broken arm that resulted in another surgery, physical therapy, and more missed time at work. For most, this would be enough surgeries and ailments for one year. However, our mother likes to do things big, and in September of this year with another routine visit to the local VA, they found a low hemoglobin level on her blood work. This resulted in more tests being ran and a diagnosis of Colon Cancer. All we know at this moment is that surgery is required. This will make three surgeries in less than a year and more missed time at work.
With every appointment comes a cost. With every procedure comes a cost. With every trip, meal, and treatment there is a cost that we didn't prepare for, a cost that our parents couldn't have prepared for. It is always tough to allow people to help or even to ask people to help, but here we are. We are asking for help whether it's prayer, reaching out, or helping offset costs associated with this diagnosis. We are thankful for any and all of the support she will receive. The only reason our hearts are where they are is because of the support we've had thus far. Our goal is to help offset 2019 out of pocket costs as we know this fight may continue, even past 2019.

So, again, we say thank you for your support, for your prayers, and most importantly for thinking of our mom during this difficult time.
