"In December of 2015, Razi went into the hospital undergoing his fourth airway reconstruction. It went well. He recovered, he was decannulated (had his trach removed), and went home. He was so excited he sent his mom selfies of his naked neck and his proclamations of love and appreciation for her. He was happy and his parents were happy for him. After a brief stint at home, Razi returned to the hospital in respiratory distress. He had some scar tissue in his airway which prevented him from being able to breathe. He was intubated (had a breathing tube inserted and was put on a ventilator). About a week following, he had his fifth airway reconstruction. Less than a week after the fifth airway reconstruction, Razi no longer had feeling or movement in his extremities. After many interventions and treatments, it was found that Razi had an irreversible spinal cord injury. He is now quadriplegic. His trach has been replaced and he is currently ventilator dependent. At 16, he has experienced an unfathomable loss. Basic functions we take for granted, such as breathing, walking, eating, voiding, are no longer possible for him. Their lives have been forever changed. Razi's mother Niseca has been staying in a hotel which is $500 a week. She must be close to her son, who is still currently in the hospital, in hopes that he will be discharging soon. The Money will go to hotel fees and hopes for a down payment to get a van that accommodates Razi's condition.
