Help Jordan Fight Stage IV Cancer
I’ve known Jordan and the rest of the Rollins family since I was a child and we need to do everything possible to give Jordan a fighting chance. He is battling Stage IV Gastric Cancer with a brain metastasis. This type of cancer has less than a 5% survival rate at the 5 year mark. He has multiple Type III Carcinoid Tumors in his stomach and the cancer has metastasized and has spread to his brain resulting in a brain tumor (Metastatic/Secondary Brain Cancer). Jordan’s most recent scans also show signs of the cancer spreading to his lungs. At the time of his diagnosis his oncologist gave him a time frame of only 4-5 months to live but miraculously he has outlived that. He is one of the most selfless and amazing people we know and deserves to have as much time on this Earth as possible.
Living beyond his initial timeframe has been an uphill battle financially as he was laid off in the midst of the pandemic with medical bills piling up. The massive price tag of starting treatment while keeping afloat with day to day expenses is going to be a massive hurdle but Jordan deserves a fighting chance.
After doing research and speaking with his oncologist we figured out it may take up to $150,000 to cover all the costs of treatment (https://www.aarp.org/money/credit-loans-debt/info-2018/the-high-cost-of-cancer-treatment.html). His most current options for treatment range from aggressive radiation/chemotherapy as well as experimental treatments. Experimental treatments aren’t covered by insurance and are 100% out of pocket. Along with the obvious expenses of medical insurance/copays/treatment/etc there’s also a ton of hidden expenses like travel costs, housing while undergoing treatment out of town, and still covering day to day expenses. At the other end of the spectrum is the very grim reality, with the odds stacked against him, that he will ultimately lose this battle and the amount being raised would also cover hospice care and end of life expenses so his family doesn’t have to bear those burdens at that time.
