On Thursday, June 23rd I received a call from my Dad that my mom had been in an accident and was headed to Gwinnett Medical Center and that I needed to get there as soon as possible. Around 9:30am my mom set out on her normal walking routine with her dog, Ali. She had been focusing on eating right and exercising - she had lost nearly 40lbs by following Dr. Phils 20/20 diet and by exercising every day. Her routine had been to walk from the house, down Bethany Church to the library and back. There was nothing abnormal about the day, until a car heading towards her never made the turn around the curve. The SUV never made the turn, crossed over the center lane, blew out three tires and hit my mom and her dog head on.My mom didn't have her ID on her, but a neighbor down the street saw the accident and called 911. She was life lifted by helicopter to Gwinnett Medical. Her injuries are extensive. Her left leg has been amputated below her knee. Her right leg is shattered, but has been set. Her pelvis is broken in a few places, but they're set to heal naturally. Her abdomen is open right now, with her intestines having been repaired and her cut on her spleen and liver. All CT scans show that her spine has not been damaged. Our biggest concern is her brain. She has a bolt in place to monitor the swelling and trauma to her brain, but the swelling is intense. We are unclear about the insurance coverage. We are unclear about a lot of everything. People have been asking to donate. Every little penny helps us and helps us get the care she is going to need long term. This is life changing. Thank you for everything. With love,
