Theo’s National Youth Leadership Forum fundraiser

Theo is bright, kind, creative and hardworking, so anybody that knows him will not be surprised that his 4th grade teacher nominated him to represent his school at the National Youth Leadership Forum: Pathways to STEM program by Envision Worldstrides this summer. Theo is passionate about stopping global warming, finding ways to eliminate animal testing, and protecting people from crime, and he knows he needs a great education in STEM to pursue those ambitions. Through NYLF he will gain hands-on experience in STEM careers in robotics, medicine, and crime scene investigation, in addition to a multi-day STEM challenge to help students strengthen their understanding of each STEM strand while enhancing team collaboration, communication and problem-solving skills.
Theo is so excited for this that he swears he would rather do this for one week than spend all summer at his fave vacation spot. He knows it’s expensive, so he is doing everything he can to make it happen. He’s applied for a scholarship and is fundraising by selling cups and pretzels. He’s working hard in school. He’s doing his chores. He’s answering his moms with “Yes, ma’am.” This kid is motivated.
It’s particularly important to us to get him there because as a dyslexic, we know how Theo has struggled and how hard he has worked to learn. And also how he doubts himself and worries about things like whether he could make it in college. NYLF asks teachers to nominate students for their maturity, scholastic merit and leadership potential. That’s why this invitation to live & study at a real college is such an incredible boost to Theo’s self-esteem and confidence. Watching his astonishment turn into self-belief has been priceless for us, so we are committed to getting him there. Thanks so much for reading. We deeply appreciate your gift to help Theo shine!
