Help us survive cancer

Dear family and friends, as some may know my husband Ron, the love of my life, the father of my children and my best friend was diagnosed with Stage 3 colorectal cancer just after last Christmas. We are working with excellent doctors and Ron is fighting this thing like a true warrior. Unfortunately, inevitably, it has taken its toll on us in many ways. Our goal is to not only eradicate the cancer from his body, but to survive and thrive. Ron is a proud man, but these events humble us all. The loss of income to the family, coupled with medical bills makes it a challenge to cover our basic needs. We have set up this GoFund me site, for those who may be willing, able or inspired to help us get through this challenge.
Ron’s diagnosis was a huge blow to our family but not a huge shock. We knew something was wrong for about two years, but couldn’t seem to diagnose it. The symptoms were so benign: bloating, heart burn and indigestion, not the scary and extreme symptoms you hear about. It was frustrating because the symptoms were also very inconsistent. However, our inner voice just wouldn't shut up so we kept listening, and asking questions. (Note: Although Ron was too young to be on the colon cancer spectrum, a simple colonoscopy would have shed light on things.)
Once we began working with our amazing doctor, Dr. Karla Goodman, she immediately got us on the right path to diagnosis and treatment. We feel exceptionally blessed because we caught this beast just in the nick of time, another month and we wouldn’t be having this hopeful exchange. Currently Ron is going through his last portion of treatment, which unfortunately, is proving to be very taxing. We have such great plans for our future and are looking forward them. We need your help to get us through this very difficult time. I can't wait for my amazingly talented husband to get back to the things that he does so well and loves, building racecars and developing technology in such an amazingly satisfying career that is waiting for him.
Our biggest hope in all of this is that our story can help you or someone you love. Believe us, we know how uncomfortable addressing colon rectal issues can be. Please learn form our experience. When your body is telling you something isn't quite right, listen and never ignore what your body is trying to tell you.
We appreciate all of the love and support we’ve received! And we send our love back to you. May we all enjoy good health and happiness.
With Love,
Ron, Portia, Mae and Dublin Liles
