Honoring John Chandler and Laura McDaniel

As friends of John and Laura, you likely have stories regarding how their leadership has impacted your ministries directly or indirectly. After 17 years of dedicated service, Rev. Laura McDaniel and Rev. John Chandler will retire from their leadership positions in Uptick. While each of them has selflessly asked to be remembered through funding of additional Uptick cohorts, the Uptick staff would like to honor them with a personal gift of something they love: John with a horticultural gift and Laura with a weekend trip. We hope to raise $6,000 to be divided evenly between the two as a way to honor their years of service and thank them.

In 2007, John was vital in the creation of Uptick and has been a formative person in the lives of so many leaders within the Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) and beyond. Along the same lines, Laura has been an indispensable associate in the formation of Uptick Voice, a leadership development program for women; Uptick Catalyst, a development program for pastoral leaders in urban settings; and most recently, Uptick Global, a yearly program in coordination with the Baptist World Alliance with women on every continent.

John and Laura’s extensive investment of time and discipleship in producing the next generation of Jesus-shaped leaders has yielded a harvest of leaders that have remained in ministry for the long haul.
