WV Farmers Impacted by the #WVFlood
Donation protected
The livelihoods of our farmers acquire an inherent risk and vulnerability under normal agricultural conditions. On a day-to-day basis farmers react to a long list of unpredictable risks that may damage an entire crop or herd. The extremity of the #wvflood did not present farmers in the most devastated communities with the opportunity to prepare or react. Over this past week, the Coalition continues to hear the traumatic stories of farmers, who feed our communities, losing their entire farms (top soil, crops, livestock, farm equipment, infrastructure, etc.), their livelihood, and their homes.
Farmers who experienced this devastating loss will no longer be able to earn an income for this growing season and must reinvest their time, energy, and money into rebuilding their farms. To support West Virginia farmers impacted by the #wvflood, the Coalition created this “gofundme” account to receive donations that will be distributed equitably amongst the farmers in need.
In addition to this campaign, the Coalition is participating in an Annual Barn Dance in Beverly, West Virginia. The proceeds that the Coalition receives from the Barn Dance will be contributed to this fund. To register for the Barn Dance, contact the Charm Farm at e: [email redacted].
The West Virginia Food & Farm Coalition is a statewide 501c(3) nonprofit organization that works to support the growth of a resilient local food system in West Virginia. An emphasis of our work is supporting our small farmers through our policy program, by providing technical assistance and research, and building diverse markets.
Participating farms will be added shortly.
* The West Virginia Food & Farm Coalition will distribute 100% of the funds in this “gofundme” account directly to West Virginia farmers in need. The Coalition will not receive any administrative fees from this fund.
