A Fund Raiser for GERRY PRICE —
Musician and Teacher

At some point in his 38-year career in teaching public school music, Gerry and his wife, Nannette, became familiar with the North Shore of Lake Superior when traveling from Winnipeg to see one of their children stationed in the military at Petawawa. This area made a big impression on the couple, and after retirement, they chose to make Rossport their home.

While in Winnipeg, Gerry was instrumental in creating a music, art, and drama program at Tec Voc from the ground up.  Eventually the high school was highly regarded for its history of quality musical productions.  In addition Gerry spent 20 years at the Rainbow Stage, the largest outdoor theatre in Canada.  While there he worked with many professional and semi-professional performers and was an integral part of more than 70 stage productions. In 2011, he was inducted into the Rainbow Stage Theatre wall of Fame for his work as assistant conductor over nearly 20 years.

Beginning in 2007, Gerry Price directed the North Shore Singers, a community choir of between 30 to 45 singers, with members from Marathon, Pays Plat, Schreiber, and Terrace Bay through eight wonderful seasons of choral growth and exciting performances along the North Shore.  Audiences were surprised at the power and excellence of the choir. The performances have been greatly missed.

Gerry had to leave the North Shore Singers for serious health reasons and has spent the last two years receiving treatment.  While most of his treatment is covered, his related travel expenses are not and this includes gas, air fare, hotel & meals during this time and going forward.  Gerry has given so much to the communities, sharing his talents creating many memorable concerts for so many to enjoy.  We hope you can show your appreciation by offering some financial assistance.

The former members of the North Shore Singers are hosting a soup and sandwiches luncheon in Schreiber on July 20th  as part of Heritage Week but do not anticipate raising sufficient funds to be of real help. Danny Carroll, long time friend & colleague of Gerry's  from Winnipeg, will be performing on keyboard. Join us from 11:30 to 1:00 if you can.
