Fire Destroyed Everything
Donation protected
Hello,
My son, Shelby, and his fiancé, Meagan, had their lives shaken Monday evening when a massive fire broke out in their apartment complex in Addison, TX. While their apartment was on the first floor and the fires seemed to all be on the fourth / top floor of the complex, their unit was one of a handful that we are told by the property owner is a complete loss.
I can’t tell you how thankful I am to the LORD that they escaped without a scratch! They literally got out with the clothes on their backs and their cat. The property won’t let us access their unit because the floors above their unit all collapsed into their apartment. It makes me tear up just typing that, thinking how close this was to being drastically different. We praise GOD for their safety!
I think most anybody that knows us also knows we will do everything for our kids. Sell everything we have to support them. Work overtime shifts .... whatever it takes. However, we are blessed with so many incredible people in our lives who have already reached out to us, asking how they can help. It is very hard for us to post something like this, because we don’t want to look like we aren’t willing to do everything possible to help our kids. But, we also realize that other want to help and we don’t want to deny anyone the blessing of that gift.
We were able to get Shelby’s truck out of the parking garage this afternoon. However, Meagan’s keys are in her purse still in the apartment. They do have renters insurance from a reputable company, Liberty Mutual. So, we pray that most of their financial needs will be met, eventually. However, they need help with all the “right now things” - like getting her car towed out of there and getting Chevrolet to make new keys. We took them to get some changes of clothes, shoes, and toiletries, but they need to get enough stuff to start back to work when they can.
They signed a lease on a new place today and literally will be starting from scratch. Thank you for considering helping them start over.
