Save Ruby Diamond's Childhood Home

Donation protected
Hello,

Our friend Kevin Mashburn, aka Ruby Diamond, desperately needs our help. We, his friends, are banding together to raise money to help him.

Kevin is always one of the first people to help someone out in need and never asks for anything in return.  Kevin selflessly donates his time once a month to help raise awareness and raise money for various charities such as SPARC, Laundry of Love, The Humane Society, The Multiple Sclerosis Bike Ride, Breast Cancer, Ventura Pride, Ventura Rainbow Umbrella, AIDS Walk Ventura County, AIDS Ride California, Toys for Tots and our local museums just to name a few. Kevin typically averages twelve charities a year at minimum. Kevin has been a huge part of our community!

Kevin’s Mother Barbara Mashburn recently passed away in his childhood home. Unfortunately Kevin's mother was a hoarder, who over the years managed to fill every portion of her home and yard. After Barbara’s passing Kevin’s friends banded together to help Kevin save his childhood home. It took a total of five semi truck sized dumpsters just to be able to see the wood floors again and to truly see the extent of the damage the house sustained over the years.

Kevin stayed strong and has spent a majority of his free time on his hands and knees scrubbing, cleaning and doing every small odds and ends job he could to try and breath life back into his childhood home. Kevin sustained a second devastating blow when he learned that his mother had left him with little much more than the house and the mess that was left behind. There was no money coming to fix up the house, no funds to repair the important things, and no funds to make the house livable again. What little extra money Kevin earns he puts into the house but at his current pace the house will sit vacant and unlivable for years. There are holes in the floor to fix, plumbing that must be replaced, a bathroom that needs to be reinstalled, kitchen that needs to be finished and walls to seal up before a Kevin can live in this home again.

Kevin has gone to the banks to attempt to secure loans to repair his child home. Time and time again Kevin gets denied for various reasons cited by the bank.

If things couldn’t possible get any worse, Kevin gets hit with yet another blow. A few weeks ago Kevin is walking to his car after work to find that someone collided with his car. No note or insurance information was left by the driver. The only thing left was the crumpled driver’s and passenger doors along with the remainder of the rear quarter panel.

Given all that Kevin does for our community it is time we give back a little to someone who has continuously given to others. As his friends we are starting this Go Fund Me page to raise money for someone who would never do it for himself. Please help our friend Kevin save his childhood home. The money raised will directly be contributed to the costs of getting Kevin’s home up to code and to make it livable. We’re not asking for a complete remodel. Just some place Kevin can call a safe home and live in as he continues to restore it.

 Sincerely,

Kevin’s Friends and Family
