Help Bonnie family after unexpected emergency.
Hi all! As many of you are aware, my father Robert (Bob) Bonnie, was admitted to Upstate Hospital on 4/10/2021. Upon arrival to the hospital and after many tests it was discovered that my father had an aggressive infection in his foot, chest, arm, hand and heart, in addition to being septic. A bleed was also discovered on his heart.
In the days following his hospital admittance he has undergone multiple extensive surgeries in attempt to remove and treat the infection. Unfortunately on Saturday, 4/17/2021 we received difficult news that although his doctors had been working hard to fight the infection, it was far too advanced in his left foot and leg, and amputation was the only option, which was completed the same day.
He is still currently in the hospital continuing treatment for the infection, being monitored for the bleed on his heart (which can not be operated on until the infection is no longer present), and is starting physical therapy/rehabilitation as he will need to completely relearn how to get around.
If you have ever been to my parents home you know that it’s a two story colonial, and is in no way handicap accessible. We are starting this fundraiser to assist my parents with not only the sudden and unexpected medical costs, but the sudden and unexpected cost that it will require to make their family home accessible for my father. A ramp will need to be installed to enter the home, the bathroom with need to be remodeled to be handicap accessible, as well as a renovation will need to be completed to relocate his bedroom to the first floor.
For those of you who do not know Bob, he is a caring, loving, strong willed, father and grandfather, who always knows how to make you laugh. He has spent many years volunteering as a coach for Kiwanis baseball, and has never shied away from assisting members in his community.
Any assistance you can offer would be an immeasurable help during this incredibly stressful time.
Thank you all. ❤️
