For someone who is passionate about fighting for racial and economic justice, the vigorous debate that we've been having during this presidential election surrounding issues has been absolutely incredible. Income inequality. Corporate accountability. Wall Street. Criminal justice reform. $15 minimum wage. LGBTQ issues. Single-payer. TPP. Medicare for All. Climate change. War and peace. Free college tuition, and more. It's all been part of the conversation.
It's what's engaged and energized so many. It's what I hope we can continue to organize around after the election in order to create change.
I am honored to be serving as a Bernie Sanders Platform Committee member for the Democratic National Convention. The Democratic Party Platform reflects our values. This year, I'm excited that the Platform will include more of what we've been organizing around on the ground, and more of what has mobilized people during this campaign. My hope is that we can create a Platform that will serve as an "inside-outside" guide for equitable and just policy change in the future.
I'm heading to Orlando to join with others from across the country serving on the committee, to finalize the DNC platform to be considered at the Convention later this month. If you are able to contribute to help cover travel, hotel and meal expenses for this 4-day, 3-night trip to attend this meeting, I would greatly appreciate it.
