Gabriela O'Shea

I am posting on behalf of my dear friend Gabriela O'Shea aka "Gaby", who was struck by a hit-and-run jeep while riding her bicycle on Rt. 299 near Butterville Road in New Paltz, Sunday, September 11th at 6:25pm. A New Paltz Times article reports that the driver turned herself, was arrested, and was released on bail. Gaby was air lifted to Westchester Medical Center. She then had to have immediate brain surgery upon arrival. She is now in an induced coma, with multiple breaks (back, ankles, elbow...), head, and internal injuries. Gaby is a beautiful, twenty-five-year-old woman, strong in spirit, dance, words, and deeds. She has a rare soul that you don't find often. I believe in the power of prayer, but in whatever way feels right for you, please send healing love and energy to Gaby, her father Steve, her mother Blanca, and her family and friends. She and her family are much loved and we are an awesome, giving, caring community. 

If you know Gaby, you know she is the most selfless person. She could have nothing and still take the shirt off her back for a friend in need. I hope we can all come together and help our Gaby get through this. 

The funds will be going to Gaby's parents to help offset the costs in medical bills. This will be a long process and road to recovery. As a community, I want to show Gaby's parents (Blanca and Steve) that they have our support and they are not alone in this horrific tragedy.
