Help the Holmbergs From Homelessness!!
Donation protected
***UPDATE*** First of all, I know there are people who prefer e-transer, so my email is [email redacted]. We are so excited about this!!! Our GoFundMe has morphed into a way for us to have a down payment for an RV. Not a fancy or new one. However it would give us a permanent place to stay, but when we do find our permanent home, hopefully the place being reno’d (we do help out there), we want to pay it forward and help other families in our situation. At least give them a couple months to breath, get their feet back under them and more time to find something. So the money you donate will be paying it forward multiple times. We can’t wait to help others. We want to help our community. This would allow us to pay it forward in a big way, which I’m so excited about, but we do need your help. ***END OF UPDATE***
Hi. This is hard. We are the Holmbergs. Vikki and Don, the parents, along with our children, 10 year old Ava and 7 year old Marshall. We are renters, and our rental home was sold, and we were given eviction notice, as the new owners were going to be living there. A situation all to common in Penticton right now. We had everything lined up, a temporary place to stay, storage for our possessions, when the person offering the temporary place backed out. We scrambled and posted on Facebook. We found two amazing strangers. Now new friends, one is Chris, owner of Cutting Edge Countertops, who also rents out RV’s. The other wishes to remain anonymous, and thanks to them, we have a place to stay until the end of June. They are our lifesavers. After that, we don’t know where we’ll be staying...yet. There is a rental crisis and nothing we can afford, but everyday I look, phone, email. We are waiting on a house that is being renovated, we help on that project where we are needed, but don’t know when that will be done, nor do we know if it will fall through or not. However I do not want my family to be homeless, in the meantime. So I am setting aside my pride. We have had no support for so long, it’s almost foreign to ask for help. My parents have turned their backs on us, and my husband’s parents have passed away. So we are asking our amazing community to help us. We want to use the money from this as a down payment for an older, cheaper winterized RV. This way we have a permanent place without the worry of, where do we go next if the place being reno’d falls through. I just don’t want my babies living in our vehicle, our daughter Ava (10) has severe autism and would not cope well at all. She is also a major reason we are hoping we don’t have to move. We have the dream team of therapists helping her and me, and we don’t want to lose them. They have helped her gain so much. Our son, Marshall (7) likely won’t cope well either and neither deserve that. Thankfully our oldest daughter lives on her own, and isn’t affected by this. The only rentals that seem to be available are $2,500-$3,000. That’s out of our price range. My husband and I have jobs and an income. We have been working hard and sacrificing a lot for the past three years in order to pay off debt, better our credit score and hopefully will be able to purchase our own home one day. We just want home security. This is the third time this has happened to us, and we don’t want to live in constant fear of losing another home and having to move. So while an RV might not be ideal to some, it will provide stability for our daughter and son, which would be everything. I just don’t want you to think we are doing nothing and looking for a handout, hence my financial story. Plus we should be able to save a little bit of money. If you are able to give, we would be so incredibly grateful. It doesn’t have to be much, when many give a little, it adds up to a lot. Thank you for considering us at this time. I know it’s a hard time for so many, that everyone deserves this chance. If you want to help, please know my husband and I have always believed in paying it forward and we both look forward to the day when we can do that again. We also want to fight to make our city affordable again. If you choose to help, we have a separate bank account for this specific reason, and we have income for our other expenses. If you are uncomfortable with donating here, we also accept etransfers at [email redacted]. Thank you again, truly thank you, from the bottom of our hearts. It’s people like you that save people in need.
