Hanging by a Thread
Pet Patrol is an entirely volunteer-run, non-profit cat rescue organization in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. All our cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and any health concerns are addressed before they are available for adoption. Hi, I am Ramos - meaning the strong one, and I have lived up to my name.
I was found in the barn where I was born and I was in such distress and
thought no one could help me. My mom didn't know what to do, and when I
stopped struggling, she just walked away and stayed with my siblings.
She was trying her best to protect us from the large barn animals
downstairs, by having us in the hayloft, but it is not as safe as being
in a home. I had stumbled onto some baling twine, used to keep the big
bales of hay together. There was a pile of it there and as I fell into
it I got all tangled up and then even worse - it shifted over an edge -
now I am dangling dangerously. I was so scared
and panicking; I was
trying
to get away from it but now it was around my neck and my front
right leg was above my head - it really hurt and the only thing that
stopped me from falling further was the twine around my paw. I felt
like I had been hanging like that forever and I knew this could be it, I
could die like this, but I kept crying until I had no more strength and
passed out. (Just as the farmer saw the dilemma Ramos was in he had
stopped breathing. Quickly cutting away the twine the farmer breathed life back
into him and they got this wee baby untangled.) The twine was tightly
wrapped around my leg and neck and the more I had struggled the tighter
it got. I was in bad shape. My shoulder was dislocated, I had cuts
along the same leg, my paw had no circulation in it anymore and it was
swollen four times its normal size. My leg was dying! I had no feeling in
it. It took a few days before I got to Pet Patrol and by then my
leg was infected and they could see that it needed to be amputated.
Funds are needed as quickly as possible to help cover the surgery costs.
I am a wee little guy who has eight more lives to live and they will be
in a happy home once I have my surgery and recover. Please donate - I
don't mind being a tripod kitty.
Please add this campaign to your Facebook Page. Thanks!
