On July 2nd at 6pm, our good friends Kyle and Casey were on there way home from work when Kyle's beloved "Rock" Jeep had a major malfunction and they found themselves with no brakes. If you live on or have visited St Thomas, you can imagine how scary that must have been on these crazy island mountain roads. As they were attempting to find a way to stop, the vehicle rolled and ejected both of them from the vehicle onto the pavement. Casey caught most of his momentum with his thumb, while Kyle caught his momentum with his head.
That night eight of their best friends sat outside or inside the Emergency Room with both of them until almost 4am when they were finally able to move Kyle to an actual hospital room and Casey to be discharged.
As many were made aware over the next few days, Kyle was in particularly bad shape and was kept under observation in the hosptial for a full week, and is now still recovering and managing intense pain as best he can. Between a couple skull fractures, complete hearing loss in his right ear, and many many cuts and abbrasions, a full picture of what is to be expected for recovery, as well as a second opinion is still being worked out.
Many people have been asking for the last week how they can help, and opening a GoFundMe seemed to be the concensus answer. My name is Chad Becker, one of his best friends down here in the islands and I have set this page up with direct communication and help from his mother Christina McNamara.
All funds donated to this page will be going directly to Kyle or Kyle's mother to best manage the financial strain that this accident has caused.
It goes without saying, but after the last week it's incredibly clear that many people know and love Kyle McNamara. Whether its because he has helped you with your car, literally given you the shirt off his back, given you rides, given you a joke, given you a laugh or just because you enjoy the character that is Kyle, it was great to see how many of you reached out hoping to help or show support. Now is the moment we can all pitch in whatever we can to make a big difference as a group!
Thank you all so much, and please feel free to reach out to me or Chris McNamara on facebook if you have any questions or thoughts.
Thank You Sincerely,
Chad Becker
Casey has appointments to see an orthopedic surgeon as his thumb was completely smashed. Since he will be accruing similar hardships and bills, please visit his GoFundMe page if you can help: https://www.gofundme.com/2dx4nx8
