Maddie needs spinal surgery!!!!

Hi everyone, this time it is not for a random animal I’m helping. My own baby. My first dog. My heart & soul. My little girl. Maddie is a 12 year old dachshund with such a sweet and spicy personality, everyone who meets Maddie falls in love. As many of you know, Dachshunds are very prone to suffering from back/spinal issues due to them being very long with short little legs. We are unsure if she jumped off the couch and landed too hard, or if she hurt her back running outside but 2 months ago she started limping on her back leg. We thought it was a partially torn ACL so we went the route of keeping her calm and restricted from exercise and gave her meds. This helped and she was back to herself with an occasional limp here and there. Today she wouldn’t move out of bed. I tried to stand her up and her leg wouldn’t move. It was completely limp. She was trying to drag herself. Dachshunds are prone to becoming paralyzed if an injury occurs and if action isn’t taken quick enough. I rushed her to the neurologist in Boyton Beach where we are doing a neuro exam, blood work, xrays, an MRI, and possible spinal surgery. I was given an estimate of $5000 for everything but surgery. If they need to do surgery it’ll be almost $10,000. Once she’s under anesthesia for the MRI, they will immediately transfer her to the OR for surgery.
They will be giving me a break since I am a surgical vet nurse at another animal hospital, but not sure how much. I can use the help and the prayers. It doesn’t stop here. This is a long road to recovery that requires a lot of physical therapy and water treadmill sessions, etc. I am in tears because this is my own personal baby and it kills me. No senior dog especially dachshund owners wants to hear this. I am constantly taking on new rescues that need immediate help but this is my own baby. The love of my life. Anything helps whether it’s $1, a share or prayer.
