Young Father caught in rushing water needs new car
My son was coming to pick up my husband for work in Hempstead tx. The roads are dark and he came to water in the roadway but it was too late by that time His car was pulled by current off the road and started going under water He called for us and I thought I was going to lose my only child. I jumped in my truck and started driving thank goodness he wasn’t far away and didn’t have his family with him. As I was driving down the road with high beams on I almost met the same fate. When I arrived his car was quickly going under and the current was horrible he was stuck and had nowhere to go. He ended up in the water barely hanging on up to his chest waiting for help. Officers arrived waiting for fire and rescue and advised us this has happened before in the same location and the city is aware and has not put any safety features into place. No signs, lights or road block. They stated that unfortunately they didn’t see anything being done in the future. Also they stated that the road wasn’t that bad earlier. But officers are aware that this area is potentially dangerous and failed to post any signs or close the road or even check back. My son was scared for his life there is nothing worse than hearing your child on the other end of the phone saying oh my God I’m going under water my car is going under I can’t get out… I will never forget those words for the rest of my life. Thankfully he only lost his car that night. He worked hard to get it and only had it a couple months. He has 2 children and 1 on the way and needs a reliable vehicle. Every little bit helps and is greatly appreciated.
