Send Lauren to Palestine!
I have always been compelled by the Palestinian struggle, and have recently become involved with Penn for Palestine which has inspired me to do something to deconstruct this system of oppression. This August I have been given the opportunity to go on a delegation with Interfaith Peace Builders (http://www.ifpb.org/del47/default.html) to further my activism for justice in Palestine. I am so excited to have this opportunity to bear witness and stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine. I will be connecting with grassroots organizers and faith-based activist groups in the West Bank and in Israel to deepen my understanding and build more meaningful relationships. In my involvement on and off campus with promoting social justice, this issue is something that permeates the discourse about oppression, race, colonialism, and xenophobia, often in a negative way. This delegation is a way for me to keep building the tools to challenge that discourse, and be an effective organizer, with the hope of starting a BDS campaign upon my return. I am being given this amazing opportunity to learn directly from those experiencing injustice, but I need your help! The trip is going to cost a total of $3840 ($2200 for the cost of the trip plus $1640 for the plane ticket). I don't expect to reach this goal purely through donations, but any amount you are able to contribute towards my goal is greatly appreciated!
