I am an Army Veteran and small-business owner in a transitional housing program. In April, I was offered a great opportunity to run a Farmers' Market stand in D.C. by the White House, and work my way toward financial stability in 3 months.
The Market Managers fronted me the capital for tents, tables and materials, and I have worked for the past three months to re-pay them from my sales.
This was the PERFECT plan, since my rent was going to be subsidised during those three months.
The problem is that the housing program that was paying my rent was de-funded in late April, right after I started working.
All of my earnings were already earmarked for repayment of my market materials (which I have repaid), but now I am being evicted from my residence after all my best efforts to achieve financial stability.
I need to remit rent payments for May, June and July ($1,500/mo X 3, + $500 in Attorney's fees + $1,000 GoFundMe fee = $6,000 total).
The Market stand is very successful, and I have received invitations to upcoming food festivals, Taste of D.C., and have even met the President.

I am earning enough to support myself from this point forward, but I will lose my residence if back rent is not paid.
The leasing company will not budge on the full amount, and has taken me to court. The judge, however, very graciuosly suspended eviction proceedings until this Wednesday, July 20th to allow me to come up with the funds. (Update: Additional 1 week continuance granted on July 20th! New deadline July 27th.)
This is a critical juncture, as I am finally well-employed and in a position to be financially stable. But this will all fall apart if I lose my residence.
Please contribute what you can to help this Veteran keep his home and business.
Thank you and God Bless.
