In Loving Memory Of Hanadi Mohamed

On behalf of Hanadi’s family:

إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون (Indeed, to Allah we belong and to Allah we shall return)

We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Hanadi, who, the evening of Tuesday, June 15thwas the victim of a horrifying attackHanadi, born and raised in Khartoum, Sudan, came to this country to escape the growing conflict in Sudan and in search of a better life. She was a phenomenal addition to our collective Ottawa community where she actively sought roles that would allow her to demonstrate her kindnessempathy and love. She was deeply devoted to God and her family and, being keen on giving back, had a tremendous presence in local Muslim and Sudanese communities. She would greet all with the warmest of smiles and was such a calm and understanding person that hardly ever could we catch her in a bad mood. Those of us who have been fortunate enough to have met her are united in our deep mourning of such an outstanding individual and in our belief that she is of the highest character. This truly is a loss that we will feel for the rest of our lives.

In spite of her gentleness, Hanadi was strong enough to be able to fight for herself and her children. In the cruelest of fate, it was this attempt to seek safety and security that ultimately cost her life. She did all the right things, she fought her hardest and, in all honesty, she should still be with us right now. And while we seek her justice, we are determined in rallying around her surviving children – a daughter, who is currently recovering from severe injuries sustained from the attack, and a son – both of whom are in their early twenties.

Through this GoFundMe, we hope to provide support as they navigate thunimaginable reality that they find themselves in and provide them the tools they require to rebuild their life in a country where they are without family. The money raised through this fundraiser will go directly to Hanadi’s son Haythem Ayoub and daughter for financial support as they begin their recovery and healing.

We thank you for your kindness and support as we grapple with this incomprehensible loss.

Thank you and God bless you all!
