Support for the Garafola Family

Donation protected

On 7/17/16 at approx. 0845 hrs., East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office Deputy Bradford Garafola was tragically and senselessly killed in the Line of Duty after leaving his place of safety to render aid to a BRPD Police Officer who had just been shot. Brad selflessly paid the ultimate price trying to save a fallen comrade. Brad was working one last extra duty assignment at the B Quik Gas Station on Airline Highway before taking his wife and children (my sister, nieces and nephew) on their summer vacation. His wife, Tonja Garafola, was on her way to meet him at his extra duty assignment in preparation for the much needed family trip. Before her arrival to meet him, she was instead met by a multitude of police personnel who were actively working the shooting scene. She was detoured and originally told that her husband was fine and did not learn that her husband had actually been killed until about an hour later.
Upon speaking with my nieces and nephew, ages 7, 12 and 15, the one question that remained constant from them was where they were going to live and how were they going to survive without the support of their father. At this age, they should be more concerned with mourning the loss of their father, who was their sole provider and loved them unconditionally, instead of worrying about where they go from here. This family lost a husband and a father by the hands of someone that he would have helped instead of hurting. Deputy Garafola was one Officer who would truly give you whatever you needed and go without and never ask for anything in return, regardless of race, creed or color. Because I know that he would create an account for anyone that needed it and be the first to donate, I am asking you to do the same. Give these children peace of mind so that when they are finally able to go to sleep, knowing their father is NEVER coming home again, at least they will not be worried about whether they will have to leave the very house their father created  so many memories for them.  Deputy Bradford Garafola is truly his children's hero and they will forever miss him.
Thank you in advance for all contributions to this grieving family and any amount is greatly appreciated !
