Declan is an 18 month old little boy with multiple medical needs. When he was 9 months old, we took him to the pediatrician with several concerns about his developmental delays. At 12 months old, Declan was evaluated and had the developmental age of a 5-6 month old. He could not sit up by himself,
Crawl, say words or hold/move objects by himself. We started physical therapy and have made great strides. Declan can now pull himself up to stand and can crawl. However, Declan still says no words, was diagnosed with Autism, has low muscle tone, nerve issues in his ear (which could be affecting his hearing and speech), and still very behind in developmental milestones for his age. He will be seeing a Neurologist at University of Michigan in July and Genetics in September with the hopes of getting some answers. Declan attends speech therapy twice a week, physical therapy once a week, the chiropractor 3 times a week, along with additional doctors appointments on top of that. Because Declan doesn’t have a formal diagnoses as of yet, his insurance has ran out of coverage for his therapy. It is very important that he continues his therapy to keep him on track and improving versus stopping and declining. All of the funds raised will be going towards paying for medical bills, testing he may need, and everyday care for him.
