Helping Hand For Penny
Donation protected
For those of you that know Penny personally, you already know what an amazing person she is and how much and how often she dedicates her time and efforts to our community and complete strangers. This is my effort to return all of the good karma she has coming her way!
Penny has a few different medical issues going on at the moment and she would prefer to keep those matters private (especially because she does not know about this... yet!) Unfortunately, these issues have hindered her ability to work and she is struggling financially.
Penny has owned and operated an in home daycare for over 20 years, but due to her medical issues she is not able to care for children at this time because physical activity causes her extreme discomfort. She has raised 4 amazing children as a single mother and has always found a way to provide for her family and keep her head above water financially. When you are a single mother and have an in home daycare- there are no sick days allowed... no time off for drs appointments... and no extra funds for the insurance needed to cover any health issues. She has struggled for many years with her physical health and she was too worried about everyone else and making ends meet to stop and take the time to care for herself. She also dedicates much of her free time to helping anyone in need- she is the founder of The Mask Project Tampa Bay- providing more than 75,000 masks to hospitals, healthcare providers, and schools across Tampa Bay, and has been a crucial part of many fundraisers spending countless hours raising funds or gathering auction items and rallying the community in our time of need.
When the Lake Padgett Sinkhole opened up in 2017 she had the wheels turning before the day had even ended- opening her home to donations that flooded in to support the families affected (mine being one of them) & coordinating a massive event to raise even more funds and donations for our community.
In 2016 we partnered up to support a terminally ill little boy, Eric Piburn. Without hesitation she worked her magic and we were able to raise over $15,000 and check multiple items off of his bucket list.
I initially met her through PB&J- Kids Spreading Help where we were assembling care packages for the homeless. These are just a few we have worked together on, but there are many more on the books. I truly believe it’s her time for good karma to do it’s thing and for our community to show her how thankful we are for her selflessness.
I have never met anyone like Penny.. selfless, kind hearted, patient, a wonderful friend, and honestly she’s freaking hysterical and our banter always makes my day She is truly one of a kind
Her biggest concern is not losing her home that she has worked so hard to keep for so many years. My concern is that her financial stress is not doing her physical health any good and she needs to focus on getting healthy and feeling better. Her bills each month total about $1,900 and that doesn’t include things like copays for dr and meds, gas and groceries... So I’m hoping to raise at least $6,000 that will help cover 3 months of expenses.
In the mean time, we are working on assistance from different resources- but it does take time and we just aren’t sure when and if approvals will start coming in. Regardless, she deserves it. She deserves to know how grateful our community is for her service and that we love and care for her! Please donate if you are able to, and if not please share. She is probably going to kill me when she sees this (because her pride will never allow her to ask for help!) Sooo if this is how I’m going out let’s make it worth it! As Penny & I always say when working together GO BIG OR GO HOME!
Thank you
