Help Lay Pam To Rest
Donation protected
Hello Friends,
We are hoping to raise funds to help lay Pam to rest. Pam was a recent bilateral above-the-knee amputee. She was placed in a nursing facility for physical therapy and occupational rehabilitation to learn how to live on her own at home again. During her stay, Pam went for dialysis one evening and, upon returning, she was taking a break outside. Because there is an ongoing criminal investigation, We are unsure of exactly what happened outside. What we do know is that as the social worker was leaving for the day, she found Pam outside lying on the ground where she had been lying for at least 2 hours in sub-zero temperatures. The social worker, by law, unable to touch Pam, went to retrieve two nurses who determined that Pam was okay. The nurses picked Pam up, moved her inside, and put her to bed. Sometime during the night, it is believed that Pam was assaulted. Her purse, debit card and phone were stolen. Being a bilateral above-the-knee amputee, Pam was unable to run away or defend herself.
The following day, the aides attempted to assist Pam in getting up for the day. She was unable to move any limbs. Someone then determined that she was paralyzed; called EMS, and she was transferred to the hospital and diagnosed with a broken neck with fractures at C3, C4, and C5. She also suffered a brain bleed. She underwent a posterior spinal fusion to stabilize her neck and relieve pressure on her brain. Following surgery, Pam was not waking, and she was then placed on a ventilator. After a couple of days, they began turning the ventilator down and decreasing the pain medications attempting to see if she would breathe independently. As previously mentioned, Pam was also a dialysis patient due to chronic kidney disease. She needed to have dialysis. They did attempt dialysis twice, but following the trauma and the surgery, Pam was not strong enough to go through it; her blood pressure decreased to dangerous lows. At this time, the Doctors asked the family to let Pam go; She Passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 2nd, with family at her side. Pam did not have life insurance as she was disabled. There is an ongoing criminal investigation, meaning the family has a long road ahead of them filled with the stress and anxieties of unanswered questions as they are trying to grieve. Please consider helping the family with the final expenses so that they can grieve, focus on the investigation and get the answers they need for closure.
