Burpees for Boobies
This month there has been a challenge issued to help in the fight against breast cancer. The challenge is to do 25 burpees a day the whole month of July. The total will be 775 burpees.
I initially started this challenge and decided I would do it to raise money for Susan G Komen but then, with the help from a friend, decided it needed to be more personal. All of the money raised will go directly to these two women that I have chosen, who I know personally.
I initially chose my neighbor, Karen Zink who is currently in the middle of her battle with breast cancer. She goes every 3 weeks to MD Anderson for chemotherapy and will have to this for a whole year. Once she completes chemo, she will have a double mastectomy, and then will have 30 radiation treatments over the course of 6 weeks in Houston. As we all know, this can get very expensive.
After I got the okay from Karen to do this for her, I found out my son’s grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a mammogram on June 23 and a confirmatory biopsy on June 28. Her name is Jeannie Stevens and she has played a very intricate role in raising my son Ryder.
She has no idea what her treatments will look like just yet as she is awaiting a referral to oncology to start her battle in kicking cancer’s butt.
All of the funds raised during this challenge will go directly to these two ladies.
