Service Dog Mobility Harness for Hank and Josiah
Donation protected
Hank is training to be a mobility service dog for Josiah Brown, a 17-year-old with cerebral palsy. Please consider donating to help this pair reach their full potential.
Hank is ready for his mobility support harness!
See this harness? Hank has been practicing with it. He's doing great, and it's time to upgrade to his forever harness, made just for him.
Our dog trainer, Nikki Varva (who is amazing!), recommended we purchase a "Mobility Support Harness for brace and balance stability assistance" from Bold Lead Designs. Follow this link to see the harness.
This harness will be custom fitted to Hank while staying adjustable for him in case he puts on a couple of pounds.
Now, a bit about Josiah and his family...
Josiah is entering his junior year of high school. He's currently using his walker for stability, but Hank will replace the walker just in time for senior year!
Josiah is an outspoken self-advocate for accessibility and inclusion. He is the chair of the statewide Youth Advisory Council for the TN Department of Health. In addition, he has been a panelist on several self-advocacy panels, most recently in the summer at the Youth Transition Summit, hosted by the state of TN and attended by folks all over the region. Josiah has worked for our local Publix since October 2021 and plans to attend college and become a teacher.
Josiah has three younger siblings. A brother who is 15 and two sisters who are 12 and 11.
Josiah's dad, Joey, is a high school math teacher. His mom, Mary Kate, works with the nonprofit Family Voices of TN, which serves families raising kids with disabilities.
Hank and Josiah's success would be impossible without the best dog trainer, Nikki Varva. Thanks, NikkI!
