Lansdown Cricket Club needs your help ...
As you will be aware – and for sound reasoning - all bars and clubs are now closed across the country and the ECB have indicated that the earliest start for the cricket season could be the 28th May. These two factors present significant issues for our club. As you will be aware from the presentation of the club’s finances at the recent AGM, Lansdown Cricket Club is not blessed with cash reserves – rather that we continue to see annual losses. So, with no income to speak of, at a time when the club would be at its busiest, we find ourselves in need of some support.
We are working very hard to secure grants and support from local government, the ECB and Sport England amongst others, but this is an arduous task and for which there is no guarantee of success.
Equally, as some of you will be aware, we have taken closure as an opportunity for a much needed refurbishment and redecoration of the club. We have a small team of volunteers* led by Matthew Summers at Combe Park working tirelessly to improve the clubhouse. We hope you’ll approve of the new look of our ‘home’, and that it will offer the basis of a club that can attract more and more social visitors in the coming months and years which will ever improve our community and financial position. However, whilst these works are being completed by donated hours and expertise, materials do come at a cost.
So, with the above in mind, I am asking for your support.
I appeal to your good nature and generosity to help LCC through this difficult period. I of course appreciate the pressure that the current situation is placing on personal finances at present, but I hope that those of you who can help, will help. In time we will recognise your continued support at the club.
Once you have donated, we’ll ask you to sign a gift aid form to enable us to claim a further 25% in Gift Aid.
I’m sure that like me, you are all desperate to get back to normal and enjoy each other’s company again at Combe Park! This will help us do that.
We are hoping to raise in excess of £10,000
Finally, whilst we would rather not be asking for your help at this time, we hope you understand why. We are very much excited about the future for Lansdown Cricket Club and thank you all for your continued support, as always. And if you want, you can keep up to date via our social media on Twitter @LCCNewsdesk or Lansdown Cricket Club Facebook or our website www.lansdwoncricketclub.co.uk
Please, stay safe and well and we wish you and your families all the best until we see each other again.
